Celebrating a New Milestone:
Gavin Rienne, Ph.D., Joins the Governor’s Interagency Council on Health Disparities

We are thrilled to announce that Gavin Rienne, Ph.D., a postdoctoral scholar at the Center for Innovation in Population Health at the University of Kentucky, has taken on an exciting new role as the Social Epidemiologist with the Governor’s Interagency Council on Health Disparities in the Washington State Board of Health.

Dr. Rienne’s academic journey and professional accomplishments are truly inspiring. As a graduate of the Epidemiology & Biostatistics doctoral program, he has dedicated his career to understanding and addressing health disparities. His extensive research on the differential mental health outcomes of children in Texas following Hurricane Harvey has been instrumental in shedding light on the long-term impacts of natural disasters on vulnerable populations.

Dr. Rienne’s expertise lies in the application of causal inferential methods to real-world problems, a skill that is critical in identifying and addressing community-specific resource deficiencies and negative health outcomes. His innovative approach to statistical modeling and analytic methods has empowered local and state health organizations to improve resource allocation efficiency and foster resilient community development.

In his new role, Dr. Rienne will continue to make significant contributions to public health by focusing on health disparities within Washington State. His work will be pivotal in guiding policies and initiatives that aim to eliminate health inequities and promote better health outcomes for all communities.
